Islantilla

Designed by Enrique Canales and Luis Recasens the 27 hole course in Huelva opened in 1992 and shortly afterwards hosted two 1993 PGA European Challenge Tour events. The complex extends over three hundred hectares and will eventually include an Olympic training village, equestrian centre, yacht harbour, casino and accommodation for 22,000 people. The parkland layout is protected by established trees, has wide fairways and large greens. The double dogleg 12th is one of the most memorable with distracting views from the tee across the Atlantic, and the 13th hole is a clifftop par five with a devilishly small green guarded in front by a lone pine tree. The magnificent Andalusian style clubhouse offers all the desired comforts and facilities. In 1995 Islantilla hosted the PGA European Tour Open de Andalucía won by Alex Cejka.
